Namaste because I really do believe in equality and recognize the light within each other living being as the same essential light that dwells within me and throughout the universe.
Naturopathy because that is my profession. I studied Naturopathy because it brought together many of my interests into one cohesive path.
Genuinely caring about people is one of my talents and I have the honour of sharing that care with people who need and appreciate a listening ear and a level of empathy that is accepting and non-judgemental.
Herbalism because I grew up on a farm in the Australian bush working and walking through nature every day. I developed a deep connection and love of the land the flora and fauna.
My use of herbal medicine began as a young mum when faced with the health conditions of myself and my children. Initially I went to the Doctor or older women relatives with every worry and was happy to follow the Doctors advice but then after waiting hours and being told my pain was nothing or that my sons terribly itchy excema was atopic dermatitis here use this Authority Script Corticosteroid three times a day on him. They weren't answering my questions, taking my concerns seriously or caring about how I managed all this at home every day and night. Merely giving a latin name to Allergic skin inflamation did not help my boy at all. The cream helped but then you read about it and yes ok the risks didn't really outweight the benefit of healing the skin but far out it was intensive treatment and one really starts to look at alternatives that don't have the same harm profile. I started with a few drops of diluted titree oil in the bath which completely stopped any secondary infections from the broken skin and I went on to grow over 60 different herbs in our garden and create homemade creams, herbal teas, lavender buscuits, flower salads and homemade goodies which I sold at local Markets.
Excema is a hard one and no cream works all the time or perfectly. I did change his diet though and found that eliminating all dairy products did reduce his symptoms. We have a tendency to Casein (the protein in animal milk) allergy in my family as well as Asthma and Hayfever. An atopic bunch. I kept a record of his food intake a food diary to check for symptoms of food allergies that can arise immediately or up to four days later and to ensure that he was getting enough nutrition because we did avoid a lot of foods. There was also a tummy bug that GPs told us had resulted in surcrose fructose allergy so even more foods removed, specialist appointments, food charting and meal creativity.
I loved growing herbs and reading about the mechanisms of the human body. If I had known then what I know now then the foods and intestinal health were the right area to be focussed on. Probiotics L.Rhamnoses can be quite effective in improving eczema symptoms because science had identified a more permeable skin and intestinal lining in this condition. They dont know the exact mechanisms or which one comes first but intestinal integrity is a good treatment area to avoid food allergens entering the blood stream.
So after years of reading and discussing complementarty and alternative health modalities, their intricacies and merits I formally studied Naturopathy. I became a Naturopath in 2015 with an Advanced Diploma and completed my Bachelor Degree of Health Science (CAM) with Charles Sturt University in 2019.
Over the years I delved into anything mysterious. The unexplained, astral realms, prophesy, myths, legends, the mystical and occult, witchcraft, pagan rituals and religions from around the world, Astrology, crystals, energy healing, chakras, meridians and the energetics of the human body.
I really think that formal study of the human body is fundamental to any body work or healing therapy.
I also recognise that safety and good manners are essential to me and highly important when offering healing, consolation and spiritual counselling to others. After many indepth discussions with senior healers including mediums, dowsers, shamans, Astrologers, Martial Arts Masters and New Age Gurus I found that the most genuine healers were gentle and had the fundamental 'evolved being' basics down pat. Compassion, Acceptance, forgiveness, relinquishing Ego and calmly offering assistance and goodness wherever they were. I attended teacher training courses in Native American Indian Circles, and Laughter therapy. I was a Tarot reader for many years (started at 15 years old) and travelled around Australia and New Zealand living learning growing. I came accross Reiki in Byron Bay in 1998 but wasn't sure about the vibe there. Almost a decade later I met My Reiki Master and instantly felt the connection. I learnt all three levels of Usui Shiki Ryoho and Tibetan Reiki with Jo Hobart over a period of 2 years. We practiced regularly and met monthly to share Reiki and learn. I chose Usui Reiki because it is a gentle energy healing technique that removes any manipulation and overcomes the transference of stagnant energy from one person to another. Usui Reiki Practitioners facilitate the flow of universal energy into the recipient so that their body can relax and heal however it needs to. I don't dictate what your body needs or how it should be I simple allow the flow and the sacred peace streams through. I have learnt other methods and I choose the modalities that I offer others based on their safety, efficacy and gentleness. There is enough suffering in this world without requiring pain for gain.
I love Usui Reiki and Naturopathy with its human body knowledge, herbs healthy eating and care. I am also very excited to incorporate the mystical, alchemical and ancient discipline of ayurveda into Naturopathic Health Care.
I thank you for reading and would be honoured if you would join me as I share the best of Natural Health.
Ask me about anything in the comments.
